Sharps Technician – CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE 

Position: Sharps Technician

Reliable, detail-oriented Sharps Technician will provide professional, proactive collection and exchange of waste containers for our sharps management service. This is a hands-on, facility based position that serves vital healthcare delivery with safe, compliant handling of sharps containers. Technician will always provide the highest level of service to meet customer needs and exceed expectations. 

Sharps Technician Duties and Responsibilities:

Delivers on-site customer sharps waste management service ensuring waste is handled in a timely and accurate manner:

• Monitor, collect, and exchange sharps waste containers safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
• Maintain a consistent, dependable collection and service schedule. 
• Communicate professionally with all on-site customer staff. 
• Meet and exceed customer service expectations by providing the highest level of customer service on a daily basis, communicating any issues to Supervisor or Dispatcher for resolution. 
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Ensures that assigned paperwork is completed legibly, neatly, accurately, and completely and returned to Supervisor or Dispatcher for processing. 

Reports to Supervisor and/or Dispatcher regarding any change to waste volumes, missing containers, etc. Reports any problems/issues with accounts to Supervisor and/or Dispatcher before the close of business each day.

Performs daily inspection reports at beginning and end of shift. Reports any problems to Supervisor/Dispatcher for follow-up.

Position Requirements:

Workweek: Monday-Friday.  O/T may be required.

Minimum Age – 21

Education and Experience:

• Education equivalent to graduation from high school, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating the ability to interact professionally with various levels of internal/external customers, and portray a strong professional appearance and attitude at all times and in all situations.
• Ability to use electronic devices for tracking daily activity (e.g. android tablets.)
• Maintain current required driver’s license, with an excellent driving record.
• Pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Must work safely and carefully to prevent injury to self and others while performing job. Requires constant mental and visual attention relative to the safe handling of regulated medical waste.
• Must be able to exert up to 150 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 60 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, push or pull carts weighing as much as 200 pounds.
• May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements.
